This week has been more learning, fun, and worries. My family in South Carolina was impacted by the hurricane. They were lucky to lose power and have some downed trees, but no loss of life. Hopefully by tomorrow they will all be back on he power grid. I remember how hard it was recovering from Irma 8 years ago.
I attended more AI sessions that were fun, informative, and a bit scary. I was able to meet with educators from New Mexico over the last week and made exciting connections for my visit there soon. I was impressed with some of the STEM work they are doing!
I participated in a study of STEM teachers for a researcher. I always volunteer to help in studies like this, because I have been on the other end begging people to help.
MakersEd Forum held a maker conference Friday and I was able to sit in and listen. So many people are doing great work and I love getting inspired by so many kids and teachers.
Saturday I attended an Indigenous People's Day Teach In at the National Museum of the American Indian with other fellows. AMAZING sessions and great inspiration for a project I am working on for the fellows. It also applies to my district in New Mexico so I am excited to make some STEM connections.
Monday I was excited to attend Designing the Climate Story with NASA. It is Design week in DC and the designers of the NASA Headquarters lobby exhibition shared their work. That meet up with someof the fellows led to an AI Debate at Artechouse Tuesday night. This amazing art and tech combo has moved the top of my take everyone who visits list. The immersive underwater AR/VR extravaganza was top notch.
I was thrilled to attend the school of Tula Monday afternoon. Since she was out of school due to the hurricane damage she spent her time researching and making Google Slides. I learned all about Dogs and Puppies and Elephants. I told her everywhere I go I think Tula will love this!
Tuesday and Wednesday I listened in to MetLife's triangle Tech virtual conference while I worked on projects. It was inspiring and left me in awe of the creativity and hopeful for the future.
Speaking of places to visit in DC, when it is time for lunch head to the Capitol, Offices, or Library of Congress Madison Cafeteria. The food is top notch and very affordable!
I ended Wednesday with a visit with the team from Take Action Global. Jen Williams has been a good friend through the years and her work is changing the world. I was happy to introduce their work to some of the fellows this week. If you want to see kids change the world, check out their FREE curriculum and exciting activities. Truly top notch.
Thanks for reading! As I was headed out this afternoon I stopped and checked out the capitol building again. I will never get used to this being part of my life. I am blessed and love sharing what I am learning with everyone!
