ConnectED Educators
October is ConnectED Educators month.
What is a ConnectED Educator?
For me, it is someone who reaches out to the world to find ideas, build relationships, and to search for tools that will increase their students' learning experience. There are many ways to connect. Twitter, Pinterest, Educlipper, Facebook Educator groups, Webinars, Personal Learning Networks, Book clubs, the list is endless.
Why should teachers become ConnectED?
The world is changing on a second by second basis. The way students grasp information, syntesize it, internalize it, and utilize it is an ever growing topic of conversation. By becoming ConnectED you are growing yourself as a professional and developing skills to help your students become 21st century learners.
How can you become ConnectED?
The possibilities are boundless. After fighting against Twitter and adding yet another Social Media tool to my life, I finally gave in...and I am better for it. I now have connections worldwide. If I don't have an answer, I can tweet it and get feedback from seasoned professionals as well as newer educators. Twitter Chats have enhanced my professional knowledge and given me numerous ideas. Educlipper and Pinterest have added to my "OOO" and "AHHH" and "I am so doing that" list. Webinars from companies like SimpleK12 and edWeb.net have helped me discover new tools for my teaching toolbox.
