First Grade
Mascot election
We brainstormed in each class to decide what animal should be the mascot.
Then, we read books and found facts about the animals.
Next, we made a commercial for that animal.
Finally, we voted using the ballot to the right.

2nd grade
Water Cycle
We combined Science and Social Studies. We studied weather and the water cycle, then studies weather maps. Here is what we learned about the water cycle presented with Green Screen videos.

3rd grade
Wants and Needs
We branstormed needs from our world. From that list of 30 or so needs students picked 3 they felt passionate about. They did a walk and share where they walked around the room to share their thoughts with others. Then we formed small groups to work with based on like ideas. As a small group the team brainstormed the problem and possible solutions. Each group then selected something FEASIBLE they could do as a 3rd grader to help the problem. Each team had an expert come in and discuss their ideas. They then made a prototype for their solution. They shared with others and got feedback on their ideas, then made adjustments. Finally, we presented to the class.

Experts were people from our school who were experienced in the ideas. For the homeless bag project the expert was from our IT department. She was in Puerto Rico after the hurricane to help with relief efforts. For the litter idea, our experts were from our maintenance department. Our guidance department came in to help the mental illness group and the gun safety group.

4th grade
In Florida, 4th grade studies Florida history. Our Maker project was to recreate a Florida Mission. In the textbook a mission was described and pictures were given. Students had to create their mission based on the book description of what all missions had.  Students used recycled materials, things from the Maker Wall,  and things they had at home to create their missions. Then, they made a video to show their projects to their friends and families.
Here is our Padlet of the mission projects.

5th grade
During the study of the 13 colonies, students created "something" to show the colonies. They had freedom to decide how to show the colonies, the only requirement was at the end we had to see the colonies. They were very creative with their choices. Some painted, others built, and all had interesting final projects.
