Around the World Literacy Day
We polled students to determine the country of origin for their family. For the grade level groups we selected the top 6 of each. Teachers selected from the top countries to create activities and tell stories. We had K/1, 2/3, 4/5 together. Students were allowed to dress up as their country if they brought $1 for the school fundraiser. Below are a few activities for the countries.

Mystery/Pirate Literacy Day
Our students suggested a Pirate/Mystery theme, so we went with it. Students dressed as pirates and problem solvers. We had visits from CSI, did treasure hunts, had to solve the mystery of who borrowed the class turtle from 3C, and had a QR code scavenger hunt. It was a ton of fun.
